Hey there!

I'm Roxana &

I help socially anxious people who feel inadequate, boring, unworthy, and misunderstood.

I’ll help you go from scared-of-being-judged-forever to nothing-can-hold-me-back.

I know what it feels like to be so mentally exhausted from social anxiety that you never want to leave your home or deal with people.

After years of being debilitated by it (to the point of not even being able to make eye contact with friends), I found a way to manage it successfully.

My experiences and journey made me an expert.

I know what it feels like to be so mentally exhausted from social anxiety that you never want to leave your home or deal with people.

My experiences and journey made me an expert.

SOCIAL ANXIETY EXPERT

Now, a decade later, I help others manage their social anxiety. I’m grateful for having it because it’s led me to you.

Have a question about social anxiety? Ask me!

SEEN IN:

You don't have to change who you are

You have to believe you're worth knowing

To be free and unabashedly you to the fullest at any moment, whatever that looks like.

If you’re anything like me, you’ve been bombarded your entire life with messages that, to make it, succeed, get noticed, and have an impact, you need to have the personality for it.

You MUST find a way to fake it. You MUST change.

But that’s just society whispering in our ears. The truth is that social confidence is like any other skill. You can learn it! I didn’t magically press a button and feel confident to ask for a promotion. I didn’t wake up one day and suddenly have 20 chat threads open. It took effort. Not only that, I had to ACCEPT that it would take effort.

But if I can do it, so can you. I went from being the girl who took notes in the corner of the meeting room, too scared to ask questions and offer solutions, to leading a team and calling out BS when needed.

I went from worrying about what everyone thought of me to standing confidently in front of them. Vulnerable.

Finally, I learned to connect successfully, speak up properly, and have the right amount of influence in my personal and professional life. All skills I had to learn! It all starts with being aware of your social anxiety and deciding you’ve had enough of its influence on your life.

Let's go back in time to the early years
Want to know more about me, my background and how I got to where I am now? Yay!
I spent a long time denying myself happiness
I always did everything that was expected of me (I reached all the right milestones, at the right times) at the expense of my happiness. From the outside, I had a perfect life and was going in the right direction, but inside, I was beyond miserable.

After working in Corporate for about 7 years, I decided to stop living in misalignment. To stop chasing social status and start doing the work I was meant to do. It took a lot of courage, but I quit my job, sold the house, and everything else, and moved to Europe. For someone that relied on safety, this was complete insanity.
I wanted to find fulfillment in my work
I didn’t really know what that was. At the time of this existential crisis, I was writing blog posts on being an introvert and on Social Anxiety. I really loved having this side-project and spent many hours at my work coming up with content and improving the website.

It wasn’t until I had nothing to fall back upon that I started to pick up this side-project and really turn it into a purpose. After struggling for over a decade with Social Anxiety, and making it to the other side, I felt a calling to help others in a similar situation. And this time around, I didn’t have to rely on anyone else to give me an opportunity, or on a degree, because my experience gave me the credibility to show up.
My journey has now led me here
The effort I put in to get out of my skin was totally worth it. Yeah, it took a lot out of me, and I questioned my sanity each step of the way, but the results and benefits far outweigh the challenges I internally faced.

I’m more comfortable in my skin and feel much happier in situations I once dreaded (such as being stuck in an elevator with someone I know).

Anyone you ask will tell you that there’s no way I have Social Anxiety or that I’m introverted – but it couldn’t be further from the truth. This is why I created HonestRox. I want to share all the strategies I’ve used and impart all the knowledge I’ve gained so that you too can feel confident no matter the situation you find yourself in.

Some tidbits

I'm big on

Personal growth. Unresolved trauma. Books (no horror please). The mysteries of the universe (like, why are the Kardashians so popular?!). Understanding myself and the people around me better. The belief that I can learn from anyone, anywhere. Being wrong. Asking for help. Honesty (had to put that in there!), and being kind to myself first.

Some of my favorite things

My two kids (most of the time). Husband (also most of the time). French crepes. Vancouver city. Thrift-shopping. Dessert of any possible kind. Historical fiction. The British accent. Chris Hemsworth. Oat milk latte. Buffy. Sailor Moon. My goodness, I’m so dating myself here.

a complicated background

Born in Romania, grew up in Canada, and spent my formative teenage years in Florida. I’m trilingual and currently based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands learning a 4th language. Phew!

My social anxiety

I brought it to life to keep an eye on it (someone suggested I call it Veronica!), and I recommend you do the same.

Separating myself from my social anxiety was a crucial step on my journey.

“Veronica” appears in many of my videos, and you’ll also find her on this website. A stark reminder that I’m NOT my social anxiety and that I don’t need to talk to her if I don’t want to.

The best way to put your social anxiety to the test is to challenge it.

I'm a mom of 2

When I became a mom, I struggled in ways I never thought possible (above and beyond the hardships of parenthood).

My social anxiety was on fire.

How was it that after years of being able to manage it finally, it was now bringing me to my knees? As much as I tried to figure it out independently, I sought a professional therapist’s help to untangle myself again.

It’s still a work in progress, but it’s not the raging dumpster fire I had to deal with years ago.

If you’re a parent with social anxiety, there’s nothing more excruciating than having to learn how to take care of your mental health and your kids’ happiness (usually, those are at odds with each other).

I’m here to support you if you struggle with this.
