I never thought I’d reach the point where I’m betting on myself.
Let me tell you that I find myself to be in quite an interesting phase right now.
If you knocked on my door right now, I’d answer with “Hello, welcome to Limbo!“. I’m getting ready both physically and mentally to move back to Florida after spending a whole year here in the Netherlands.
Holy guacamole, that’s not all.
I’m finally betting on myself.
Something I’ve avoided doing my whole life. I’ve never ever bet on myself. No matter how much something was within my grasp, I always backed off due to a lack of confidence in my abilities. I never believed I could DO IT.
Whatever IT was.
But just this week I decided I’m not going to look for a job this year. I’m going to go all-in with HonestRox and create even more awesome content for you guys. I finally have the opportunity to dedicate myself fully to this and I’m really excited about it.
This is something new for me and a BIG change.
If you know my story, you’ll know that I spent a good 10 years in Corporate America and I have two Master’s degrees. I thrive in these kinds of structured environments where I do what I’m told. So, betting on myself, deciding what my days look like and what I’m going to work on is a whole new territory for me.
We always hear about how nothing stays the same and that change is imminent. You’d think with all the heads up we get about that, that we’d be prepared up to our nose to deal with it.
Yet, we’re all uncomfortable with change and do everything we can to avoid it.
What if instead of seeing things as “changing”, we see ourselves entering into a new “phase”. I find that it makes my transition that much smoother because it reminds me that it’s not permanent.
There’s always another phase to walk into soon after.
Thinking of it this way doesn’t feel like it hits me out of nowhere, the way “change” does. So mentally I know that I’m about to enter the “living in Florida again” phase. And the “working for myself” phase. And if those phases both suck, I know that new ones are waiting for me around the corner.
So if you’re also in limbo, and you’re about to enter a new phase, one that gives you social anxiety, because you have to deal with new people or a new environment, be sure to sign up for my new course so that you start the new phase with confidence.
As for me, I’ll keep you updated as I move along my journey of betting on myself.
